Holly said ‘YES’ to the Dress

You know your wedding is off to a grand start when you find your dress at one of the most sought after bridal stores in the country.

“I wasn’t really planning on even finding anything! We were just going for the experience,” Holly laughed.

On a sunny Saturday in June, accompanied by her matron of honor, grandmother, and mom (a big fan of the hit show Say Yes to the Dress), Holly traveled to Atlanta. The crew was not only headed south to look for wedding gowns, but to also get an up-close-and-personal look at the magic behind the team at Bridals by Lori - the full-service bridal salon where the show is filmed.

Minus the camera crew, Holly had the same first-class experience that viewers can watch brides having on TV.

“They made you feel super unique,” Holly said about the salon’s staff.  “You didn’t feel like you were just there being a tourist.”

After trying on numerous gowns in various cuts and styles, Holly hadn’t quite found the one that made her say “yes!”  However, one can’t run a successful bridal salon without having staff that is personable and can really tap into their client’s taste.  That’s where Flo, a member of the Bridals by Lori team, stepped in.

“It worked out that I was done trying on dresses and had one that I kind of liked,” Holly remarked about the experience.  “And then Flo said, ‘I have one that I think you’re going to love.’  She brought it out, and that was the one!  That was a fun memory.  I had the whole ‘Are you saying yes to the dress’ moment, too.

The dazzling dress was a fabulous precursor to the wedding festivities to come.  Holly and David knew that they wanted to focus a lot of their attention on the reception.  Both the bride and groom come from large families - most of whom were able to make it to the wedding.  Holly’s family is not native to Paducah, so she wanted to make sure that the charming city would be a return destination spot for first-time visitors.  Guests received welcome bags in their hotel rooms that highlighted local hot spots and Holly and David’s favorite places to grab a cup of coffee, bite to eat, or evening cocktails.

“I think everyone really enjoyed that special detail.  We heard a lot of people say that they need to come back and do various things that they saw over the weekend,” Holly said about their out of town guests’ reaction.

As planned, Holly and David created an unforgettable evening as a bit of a ‘thank-you’ for their guests that made the journey to celebrate their union. With the help of the stunning view that one has overlooking the river from the terrace of the Carson Center, the energetic brass section of “Pink Cadillac,” delicious dinner by Walker Hall events, drinks and all-night dancing, guests were delighted and entertained!

“We knew we wanted the reception to be the party,” Holly said about her and David’s celebration.

But, the fun didn’t stop when the crowd waved goodbye to the bride and groom.

“We did our carriage ride out of the reception, did a loop, and went to the 1857 Hotel for our after-party,” Holly said about the extended celebration.

The hotel was hosting the bridal party over the weekend and was delighted to have the crew walk back after the reception from the Carson Center for even more fun and fellowship. This allowed Holly and David to spend more time with their closest friends after the hustle and bustle of the wedding day.

“It was really good to get to spend some extra time with people we hadn’t seen in a while,” Holly said about the after party. “And, of course, I was thrilled to wear the dress a little bit longer!”
